Most people shudder when they think of rats. But not all rats are bad. We have many examples from Hollywood of good rats, there are Rizzo and Yolanda (from The Muppets), Remy, Emile, and Django (from the movie Ratatouille), and Peter Pettigrew (from Harry Potter films). Of course, in real-life rats can be pests.

The small rodents can spread disease and are considered a very invasive species. Many major cities have rat infestations they are constantly battling. Most farmers do not like to see rats running around their farms either. Andrea Davis was out in her barn when she heard a noise coming from one of the cow’s water buckets.

When she looked inside, there was a rat! Andrea would otherwise have gotten rid of the pest, but something stopped her – this rat was somehow different.

The little rat was suffering from hypothermia and was completely exhausted; it needed help.

Andrea picked up the rat and dried him off. She put him in a pet carrier, inside the barn, and gave him a warm water bottle and blanket to help warm him up. She gave him little bits of chicken to eat and slowly he started getting stronger.

Once the rat started to crawl up the cage walls, Andrea knew he was ready to be set free! On Facebook, Andrea said she had no reason not to help that rat.

She said we should always strive to avoid causing pain or taking life from someone (or something) that wants to live. All lives matter! Right on Andrea!
