Turkish officials drive around the streets of Izmir to reach the pit. They climb the stairs and descend a few meters into the room where a wealthy Roman family lived.
This place is about 2,700 years old and has columns and mosaics with a flute on the floor. Located in western Turkey, on the shores of the Aegean Sea, Izmir is home to a number of interesting architectural finds of recent times.
