A girl with Down syndrome took her first steps thanks to her twin sister. Laura Gilliat, 32, of Gainsborough, Lynx, gave birth to twins, Freya and Caitlin on September 29, 2019, after five years of struggling with conception.
Freya was born with Down syndrome after an emergency caesarean section at 35 weeks gestation, but Caitlin was not born, accounting for 14 out of a million identical twins. As the twins grew older, Caitlyn began to crawl and walk several months earlier than her twin sister, supporting her and helping her grow.
Now, thanks to Caitlin, Freyja walks alongside her sister.
