Dogs need a family that will care and love them. They need shelter above their hands and a warm bed to sleep on during a cold night. Unfortunately, not all dogs get to experience this luxury. Many of them end up on the streets. Some of them are abandoned while others were litters of a stray dog too.

Even though so many rescue shelters and organizations remove dogs and cats from the sidewalk every single day, there are still thousands of them roaming the streets looking for food or shelter.

Thankfully, there is a good samaritan who is willing to step in and help!

A tiny pup was laying on the sidewalk, alone and weak. A concerned passerby stopped to help the pooch. The person saw a glimmer of hope in his eyes and knew that he or she has to help even in their own little way. As it turned out, this dog was hit by a car. He was too weak to help himself.

The pooch was called “Recka.”

He was only 2 pounds and he obviously needed immediate care. The animal rescuer, She Rojas, did not waste time when she found the pup. Recka was immediately rushed to the nearest vet who helped the pooch right away. He was cleaned up and was given food and water.

Recka was too weak to stand on his own. He was so hungry at that time and just wanted to eat. His infections were treated and were given much-needed medical attention and care.

Little by little, Recka blossomed into a healthy and happy dog. With continues care and love, this once skinny and hungry pooch had a 360-turn in life after he was rescued. Even though his life started in the worst possible way, he is now living with his new human mom.

Abandoned and lost dogs who are walking alone on the streets need to be rescued. If they belong to someone, their owner is probably already looking for them. So if you happen to find an abandoned or probably a lost dog, what should you do? Is it wise to just pick the dog up and bring it to the vet?

It is very important that you first assess the situation. You can try to approach if the dog looks healthy and does not show any aggression. But for abandoned or lost dogs, they are usually confused and scared. And approaching them right away might not be the wise thing to do.

If you know that they need help and you cannot persuade the pooch to come near you, then ask for help. Stay near and call for rescue assistance.
