Abilene and her puppies lived on an abandoned property in Harris County, Texas. Although life was hard, Abilene and her pups made it through each day.

When Hurricane Harvey hit Texas and water levels began to rise, Mama Dog knew she had to save her pups. One by one, she carried her pups to the porch of a nearby house.

The couple living in the house noticed the dog family on their family. They called animal rescue teams to keep the dog away from flooding and chemical leaks from a nearby chemical plant.

The couple brought the dog family to the Rescue and Reunite Center in Conroe. The rescue shelter partnered with Best Friends Animal Society and Montgomery County Animal Shelter that houses stray animals.

The rescuers bathed the puppies as they were covered with fleas. They also realized Mama Dog was emaciated and skinny.

Apart from the flea infestation, the vets gave the animals a clean bill of health. Abilene was given time to relax and her puppies were close by.

The dogs found a new and loving home in Los Angeles.
