Last Father’s Day, two Hollywood legends, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, once again demonstrated why a family is perfect.
The Escape from New York star and Hawn’s children, Oliver and Kate Hudson, have always been close. In fact, they consider him their father and love him unconditionally. However, the same cannot be said for Kate and Oliver’s estranged biological father, musician Bill Hudson, who asked his children to stop using his last name.
Neither Oliver nor Kate miss an opportunity to remind Kurt Russell how important he is to them. They were 6 and 3 years old when their mother started dating him and he has been a father to them ever since.

When speaking of her relationship with Bill Hudson, Kate says she doesn’t regret not growing up by his side or being close to him because he doesn’t know her “from a hole in the wall.”
“But I don’t care. I have a dad,” the Almost Famous star told Vanity Fair according to ABC News, referring to Russell.

This Father’s Day, Kate posted an emotional message to the man who raised her. “Our great faithful defender. Our true true captain. Our wild and sometimes restless adventurer father!” he wrote on Instagram.
“Childhood and adulthood are full of adventure,” added Kate. “My father always makes life fun. Always ready to explore, always ready for a good life with family. He’s a really good father.”
Kate paid tribute to Kurt Russell on the occasion of his 70th birthday. “He gave me confidence, gave me the feeling that I deserved everything I wanted, and I knew that he would always support me in any trials that I may face in the future,” she wrote.
