Imagine seeing a polar bear lumbering down your city sidewalk, only to notice that the polar bear is awfully small, only to realize that IT’S A POODLE. I don’t know about you, but that would make my year.

Luckily, you can watch the experience on video. Rachelle Lynn McGinnis is a dog owner from Missouri who transformed her 12-year-old poodle, Bijou, into a polar bear.

“To actually style it, the final part only takes about 30 minutes, but to grow her fur to look like a polar bear took 11 months,” Rachelle said, according to the Daily Mail.

“When I first cut the fur into the right shapes it took a couple of hours but I always do it in stages.”

Rachelle has also turned Bijou into other creatures, like a horse, a dragon, and a peacock.

She uses controversial methods like dying and carving her poodle’s fur to achieve the looks, but you can’t deny that the results are pretty impressive.

“The wackier designs the better,” Rachelle said. “It’s something I love doing and I feel like it shows off my creativity.”

And how does Bijou feel about all this?

“For Bijou, it’s all about the attention — it’s not like she looks in the mirror, she just loves being groomed and stroked.”

Fair enough! Rachelle plans to turn Bijou into a sheep next, which will be significantly easier to maintain than the polar bear look. She’ll even have black “hooves.”
