There’s nothing like watching our favorite television shows after a long day at work. Sitting in front of our television or device screens, holding the controller (or at least fighting over it in true comedic style), we can’t help but laugh over the characters we’ve come to know and love. In fact, some of us are probably guilty of watching the same episode again and again!

One sketch comedy that has stood the test of time is the Carol Burnett Show. It may have been off the air for decades now, but there is something about it that makes pure television gold. Other than Miss Burnett herself, this variety/sketch comedy series was home to a talented cast including Harvey Korman, Vicki Lawrence, and today’s featured star, Tim Conway. In a scene that is sure to leave you in stitches, Tim Conway is about to showcase one of the best sketches in the show’s history… and he didn’t utter a single word!

Acting in a sketch comedy series like SNL or the Carol Burnett Show must be a challenge. For one, you usually perform in front of a live audience so you have just one shot to make the scene work. Otherwise, everything is going to downhill. Veteran actor Tim Conway makes comedy acting look like a breeze in this scene.

As Carol’s wobbly grandpa, he enters the room in full prosthetics – making Tim look thrice his age! In a second, he’s falling down the stairs in full slow-mo. The whole thing is just hilarious to watch. What’s even funnier is that Tim’s co-stars Carol and Harvey Korman can’t help but break character. Harvey notably turns away from the camera as soon as he falls into a fit of giggles.

There’s no doubt that Tim Conway is a comedy genius. He made a great addition to the Carol Burnett Show, gifting us all with comedy sketches like this one! Tim went on to take on the role of “The Oldest Man” from 1968 to 1977. His other notable character on the Carol Burnett Show was Mr. Tudball, an ambitious businessman whose plans are sunk by his bored secretary (played by Burnett).

Conway’s trademark role has always been the goofy, bumbling characters. In fact, he won us all as the silly but lovable Ensign Parker on Mchale’s Navy. In more recent times, Tim has lent his talents to voice acting, playing the hilarious Barnacle Boy on Spongebob Squarepants.

Tim is a national treasure. He’s built a legacy as a comedian, writer, and director. And it is scenes like this one that reminds us what a multi-talented genius Tim is!
