For those with autism, the idea of communicating with others (especially in front of a crowd) is one of the most overwhelming experiences imaginable. This discomfort can lead to severe communication problems – and it’s something Emma knows all too well. The sweet little girl was diagnosed with autism when she was a young child and sincerely dislikes speaking with, or in front of, strangers. But when Mom and Dad suggested she try out for “Autism’s Got Talent,” a platform for those with autism to perform, Emma jumped at it. Even though she disliked talking to strangers, the idea of singing was too much fun.

Performing for the Autism’s Got Talent crowd, Emma decided to sing Whitney Houston’s classic hit, “One Moment in Time.” Even though Emma has had trouble with communication in the past, everything changes the moment she opens up her mouth to sing. It’s as if her feelings of nervousness melt away and she’s the only person in the world. Mom and Dad can’t help but shout out in support as their brave little girl knocks the socks off of the audience. How could such a beautiful (and powerful) voice come from such a small girl? They grinned from ear to ear as their baby girl sang her heart out!
