Rescuers found wild and sick sheep in the Australian Baarak forest, which, after shearing for the first time in many years, brought almost half the weight of an adult kangaroo weighing more than 35 kg.
The sheep was found by a member of the public who contacted the Edgar Farm Sanctuary near Lancefield, Victoria, 60 kilometers north of Melbourne, Mr Kyle Behrend said.
“It looks like Barak once belonged to a sheep,” Berend said.
“He had at one time been ear-tagged. However, these appear to have been torn out by the thick matted fleece around his face.”
“Sheep need to be shorn at least annually. Otherwise, the fleece continues to grow and grow, as happened here,” he said.

After the necessary haircut, Mr. Berend reported that Barak’s jacket weighed 35.4 kg.
“After riding on the rocks, his hooves were in excellent condition, but he got a little sick. He was thin and almost invisible because of the hair on his face. ”
Mr Berend added that Barak is now living with other rescued sheep at Edgar’s direction: “All this shows that there are really strong, brave animals. If we try, we can no longer love them. ”
