Indonesia’s eastern region of Papua discovered 64 parrots stuffed inside plastic bottles inside a box

The crew of a cargo ship in Papua, eastern Indonesia, found 64 parrots inside the box, packed in plastic containers. Crew members found the bird on Thursday when noise came from the box. Parrots are black-billed lorises and exotic birds found on islands in the southwestern Pacific. 54 birds survived. There are no arrests at the moment.

Wildlife advocates are demanding stricter measures against players who supply illegally protected animals for the international pet trade.
